We're in the midst of our first major snowfall of the season. Winter is really here. ::sigh:: This is a shot of the rosemary taken just before posting.

Welcome back. I missed you.

What a beautiful mood that picture sets. I could just drift off into it.

So how about a picture of the park in the snow? :)

Morning Olivia.

I want that snow! You people up North are so lucky that you get snow all the time. :)

Hope you've been doing well.

Good Morning Olivia & Andi & FamilyMan!

Olivia, I love photos of birds in flight. Thanks for sharing this one.

Yikes! I left this unposted!! I've been off looking for a photo for Andi (it's all her fault!)

Hey O!

Love both those shots. How well does rosemary winter over up there? What passes for cold around here doesn't seem to bother it much.

Yikes! What is all that white fluffy stuff? Sure is pretty.

I remember when I was a kid (that in itself is amazing) we often had snow at Thanksgiving in Ohio. My cousins and I would wait and wait to see who saw the first flake fall.

We're going to try brining our turkey this year again this year.

Olivia, I love the top pic. It`s like the clouds are in "motion blur" mode. The bird isn`t moving, the atmosphere around it is flying. Great illusion.

Beutiful photo, Olivia. The bird provides a great accent.

Hi Andi!

Thanks ... phew ... been an exhausting last few days and it's only halfway through - well, I guess more than half now ... heh.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting out in the snow w/ the camera. I was at the park on Sunday and there was a thin sheet of ice on the water and the ducks and geese were walking on it and falling through it etc. :) I think it's going to be tricky to find stuff to photograph -- that is, to get into that mindset b/c things might not be so obvious.

Hi there FM.

LOL, I'd love to be able to send it down to you. We're in for another blast of it for morning rush hour again.

And it's funny, b/c you guys always hear that it's the cold winds coming down from us that brings the snow etc., but this is what we hear:

A low pressure area over southern Illinois will bring the first winter storm of the season tonight and Thursday. While rain heavy at times is falling over most of southern Ontario there are signs that a change is imminent. [LINK]

Heh.

:)

pea-ess: glad you're feeling better and it's great to see you around the 'nets again.

Evening katieb!

I've done that too -- usually at Head's b when I get carried away looking at his flickr photos/Planet Earth ... lol

Evening FAR.

Rosemary doesn't overwinter here. Gets too cold. It dies and has to be replanted each year.

This year I planted it in a big planter instead of in the herb garden, in the hopes that I could get it to overwinter by bringing it inside ... but then it wouldn't get any light ... so I'm not sure I'm going to do anything -- hence, this morning's photo of it covered in snow ... lol

Oh, and I keep a couple of small containers on the kitchen windowsill during the winter. I seem to be able to get it to grow inside if it's been inside from the start ... not sure why, but at this point I don't question it b/c I'm just happy that it grows so I can use it in my cooking ... :)

Hiya P4!

I saw a recipe for brining turkey in the cooking magazine I get every month. It looked like a lot of work, but was worth it in terms of flavour.

Hi d!

O yes, white sandy beaches, clear blue water, soft warm winds, palm trees, tasty and cool beverages, and a hammock ... lazily swinging back and forth ... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh ...

Sign me up!

:)

Those turkeys are quite jaunty looking ... lol

Thanks mm!

Can you imagine that the city is considering tearing down this park to put up an interprovincial bridge (Ontario to Quebec)? Would be a shame -- and I'm hoping that it won't move forward -- but Andrew Haydon Park was one of the locations identified for a crossing. :/

Another spectacular shot Olivia! That'd be a fun one to print enlarged to 8x12 or something.

I can see the details on the little windmill much better on this one, and hey, it's pointing, "look there's a bird in the sky", ha ha!

Hey that snow on the Rosemary is a whole lot more than what we got, here in the GWN, (I can say that, right, since I'm farther north than you?)

We had a first real snow this morning too. Oh, well, Nov 21, wasn't a bad date for the 1st one.

I better get to bed, I'm supposed to make bread and cook chicken tomorrow, or should I call it microturkey?
