The other day Derrick from Melrose Musings [link] posted a challenge wherein he had to post the 6th photo from his 6th folder then tag 6 others. Derek modified the challenge for his post, and he extended it my way ... :) I'm also modifying it a bit here as my photo folders aren't in a usual sort of order and have text files mixed in as well. So I went w/ the 6th photo in the 'to blog' folder (as you can see from the screen grab), and since it was a cloud photo decided to wait 'til today to post. This is a shot taken from the plane window (sorry xup!) when we were coming into Venice, June 2008. The sun rays were breaking through the clouds.

Both pictures are awesome shots. The dandilion puffs almost look like mini-lights in the first photo! Those clouds would have me looking for some shelter from the coming rain!!
Breaks in the sky for the light to shine through - portals. I love to catch them as well.
the old homestead, eh…it's apparent where your preference for nature stems from.
btw, is that image and hdr? it has that very saturated colour look about it.
well done.
Hi Olivia,
That top picture is spectacular to me. When I first saw it I thought you had photographed a painting. Actually in the black cloud I can definitely see an old craggy face.
Hope you have a good w/e coming up.
Whatever effects you used on that impending storm photo certainly added to the sense of electricity in the atmosphere. Nice work on both cloud shots.
The glowering sky is fantastic but pulls my eye in is the way that the flowers glitter in the field like bright stars in a dark sky.
Those photos leave me feeling humbled.
That top pic… what did you do to it? Something then sepia?
Both are majestic.
Awesome!!
My first thought, like FM, was that this was a painting. It is incredible. Is this where you grew up? If so, you were way lucky! But, like FAR said, is this a natural photo or did you do something to it? I can't remember the name of the cool effect you use once in a while to make photos look dreamy. What ever...it's beautiful.
They do look like mini lights. Both are incredible shots.
Hi Olivia,
Apart from spelling my name wrong and me not talking to you ever again, the pics are great!!
FM would be able to see a face in the cloud, cos it's one of the wind gods! For the time of year (May), it ought to be Zephyrus but it looks too dark and menacing!
I must say that the aircraft windows never seem to spoil your shots.
Thanks for taking part.
That is a very threatening cloud in the top photo. I like how it contrasts with the fragile plants on the ground.
Cool rays in the lower one. I tried airplane shots coming home from ykos 2006 with very limited success. Yours came out very well.
LOL Derrick! I'm not sure why I did that - I know how to spell your name. Maybe I was just trying to get your attention ... ;-) So sorry, have fixed it now. :)
Thanks all.
For the top shot, it's not an HDR. Using layer masks, what I did was lighten the grass area, darken the sky, increase the warm colour tones a bit, apply a slight Gaussian Blur to the dandelions and some to the clouds, and then finally sharpened it.
And yeah, I used to run around in the field when I was little. It's next to a forest so I had a lot of space. :)
excellent. I might try this challenge too.
I love the top shot and the processing you did on it.
LOVE that dramatic sky and field -- wonderful processing!
Hi Olivia. Your pictures seem to be better than ever.
Like the wing (it brings to mind the Twilight Zone / Shatner episode)and even more the field. I love the overcast light and dandelion heads.
